September Things: What I’m Reading, Loving & Looking Forward To 🍂

September is here, which means it is officially fall in my heart—even if Georgia has absolutely no intention of cooperating. 🍂

I’m ready for cool mornings. I’m ready for leaves crunching under my feet. I’m ready to pull out the fall decorations and, honestly, the Halloween decorations too. At this point, I’m willing to believe that if I put enough pumpkins around the house, the leaves will finally take the hint and start falling.

But September also feels a little different for me this year.

Life is busy. I’m still settling into a brand-new routine of work, school, home, family, blogging, and everything else squeezed somewhere in between. Strangely enough, though?

I’m kind of loving it.

So grab a coffee and settle in. Here are a few September things I’m reading, drinking, doing, and very impatiently waiting for.

📚 Currently Reading: The Tapestry of Fate

Okay, this one comes with a tiny asterisk because we all know how quickly reading plans can change. 😂

But as of right now, I’m hoping to be reading The Tapestry of Fate by Shannon Chakraborty when this is posted.

It’s the sequel to The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, which I LOVED, so my expectations are…probably dangerously high.

Pirates? Adventure? A badass FMC? A little romance—or whatever we’re calling that situation?

Yes. Give it to me.

I’ve been looking forward to getting back into this world for a while, and September feels like the perfect time to do it. We’ll see if my TBR actually cooperates.

☕ Currently Drinking: Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso

My brain says fall.

The Georgia weather says absolutely not.

So we’re compromising.

I’ve been making iced brown sugar shaken espressos at home, and they’re giving me just enough cinnamon-y fall energy without requiring me to drink a steaming latte when it’s still way too hot outside.

There’s also something ridiculously satisfying about making coffee at home before starting the day. It’s a tiny ritual, but lately I’m realizing those little routines make a big difference.

🌅 Life Lately: Finding My New Rhythm

September lands right in the middle of a very busy season for me.

I’m still settling into my new routine, and I definitely don’t have everything figured out yet. But surprisingly, I’m enjoying it.

There’s something satisfying about getting up at 5 a.m. and having my morning kind-of-sort-of prepped. Clothes ready. Things packed. Coffee situation handled. Enough preparation that I can walk out the door knowing I’ll probably be…

kind-of-sort-of okay. 😂

And right now? That’s enough.

I’m learning what needs to happen the night before, what can wait until morning, and what simply isn’t worth stressing over. My routine isn’t perfect. Some mornings probably never will be.

But slowly, it’s starting to feel like my routine.

🍁 Currently Manifesting: Actual Fall Weather

Dear Georgia,

Please.

That’s it. That’s the section.

Okay, maybe not. 😂

I am so ready for those first cool mornings when you walk outside and realize the air finally feels different. I want falling leaves, open windows, cozy blankets, candles, pumpkins, and every other stereotypical fall thing I can get my hands on.

I’m also approximately five minutes away from pulling out the Halloween decorations.

Is it too early? Maybe.

Do I care? Absolutely not.

At this point, I’m operating under the assumption that if I decorate aggressively enough, fall will eventually have no choice but to show up.

Science.

🎬 Counting Down To: The Love Hypothesis

September 23rd cannot get here fast enough.

I’m ridiculously excited to watch The Love Hypothesis movie this month.

Whenever a book I enjoyed gets an adaptation, there’s always that mixture of I CAN’T WAIT and please don’t mess this up. And yes, I will absolutely have thoughts afterward.

Lots of them.

Which means there will almost certainly be a The Love Hypothesis movie post coming to Coffee, Books & Dragons once I’ve watched it.

Consider yourselves warned. 😂

Until then, I’ll just be over here impatiently counting down the days.

✨ My September Intention: Prepared Over Perfect

This is the energy I’m carrying into September:

Prepared over perfect.

I don’t need every part of my new routine figured out.

I don’t need the perfect 5 a.m. morning. I don’t need to stay perfectly ahead in school, keep the house perfectly clean, have every blog post planned weeks in advance, or somehow magically balance every part of life without dropping anything.

I just want to make things a little easier for myself where I can.

Prep something the night before.

Wake up with enough time to breathe.

Do one small thing today that Future Me will be grateful for tomorrow.

And give myself a little grace when things don’t go according to plan.

I’m starting to realize that being prepared doesn’t mean having everything together.

Sometimes it just means making tomorrow a little easier.

🐉 Tito’s Corner

And apparently I’m not the only one ready for fall.

Tito has officially declared September the beginning of cozy season, regardless of what the thermometer has to say about it.

☕ Tito’s Sipping: An iced brown sugar shaken espresso with an entirely unreasonable amount of cinnamon.

📚 Tito’s Reading: The Tapestry of Fate—although I’m fairly certain he’s just here for the pirates.

🍂 Tito’s Up To: Trying to summon fall. The pumpkins are out. The tiny scarf is on. He’s staring aggressively at the green leaves outside. We are committed.

✨ Tito’s Tiny Reminder

“You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just pack your snacks.” — Tito 🐉

Honestly?

Solid advice.

And that’s September.

A little busy. A little chaotic. Still way too hot. But filled with good books, homemade coffee, new routines, things to look forward to, and the promise that cooler days are coming.

I’m not trying to have everything figured out this month.

I’m just trying to be a little more prepared, enjoy where I am, and maybe convince Georgia that it’s finally time to let those leaves fall.

See you in the next chapter. ☕📚🐉
